1. Fur-rific! In summer an arctic fox has dark fur. When winter comes, the fox grows a thick, white coat. So the animal blends in with the snow. That makes it harder for hungry predators to spot—and eat—the fox.

2. Great job! Like many marine mammals, walruses have thick layers of fat underneath their skins. The fat, called blubber, keeps them warm in icy water. That's important because walruses sometimes dive 300 feet below the surface to feed on clams.

3.Great! You've heard of a catnap. Well, how about a "bearnap"? Grizzlies sleep through the winter. They live by digesting fat stored in their bodies during spring, summer, and fall.
